Chemical Peel For African American Hyperpigmentation

Chemical Peel For African American Hyperpigmentation – At the medical spa of Dr. Cash in Houston, chemical peel options range from mild to moderately strong and can treat a wide range of skin problems. In general terms, chemical peels remove dull and damaged outer layers of skin and help eliminate fine lines, blemishes and areas of dry skin and discoloration. “Patients are often surprised to hear me recommend a chemical peel – it sounds a little scary to some people. But this treatment is very effective and easily customized,” says Dr. Cash. “In the hands of an experienced practitioner, a chemical peel is very safe, and can take years and really ‘polish’ the skin.”

How I Got Rid Of My Hyperpigmentation Fast

When it comes to chemical peels, there are numerous formulations and different strengths to address different concerns. Dr. Cash’s Medical Esthetician will carefully evaluate your skin and your concerns, and work with you to determine the type of peel that is right for you. She can recommend a series of peelings, or a peel in combination with another skin process such as dermaplaning.

Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon • ASPS & ASAPS MemberNo matter what procedure you undergo with Dr. Cash, one thing is for sure-it’s all about you. She takes the time to get to know you as more than a patient, creating a treatment plan that is just right.

Chemical peels are specially formulated substances that contain an irritant used to exfoliate the skin. The peel is smooth on the skin, left for a period of time, and then neutralized. Once the peel is removed, the outer layers of skin cells peel away to reveal healthier skin that looks and feels younger. Peels can be selected and adapted to individual problems and available recovery time.

Another option is the HydraFacial® treatment. Designed to remove dead skin, clean pores and hydrate the skin, this treatment combines the effects of a chemical peel with hydrating nutrients and moisture that your skin craves. HydraFacial treatments are a multi-step process to improve skin tone and texture to help you look and feel your best.

Experiences vary between patients and with the type and strength of the peel. Patients typically feel tingling, warmth, and possibly mild stinging and burning—not pain—when a mild to medium peel is first applied. Numbing medication can be used for deep peelings.

Some gentler peels have no physical peeling/peeling. For the best results, these peelings should be used as a short series of 3-5, every 4-6 weeks.

Some of our more gentle chemical peels you may not experience any physical loss of skin. These are best done in a series, four to six weeks apart. This is also a good way to start with your first chemical peel experience and to prepare for a Mid-Depth Peel. DAY OF Treatment- Glowing with some light inflammation. We prefer not to over your skin with anything after the peel. The last step of the peel layers is self-neutralizing, meaning it stays on your skin for up to 12 hours. Avoid any exposure to the sun the rest of the day. You can go out to dinner or be social, but you look bright! Eye and lip makeup is allowed if desired. We prefer that you don’t wear tight hats either… That traps heat and we’ve already told you details about heat and peeling during your treatment. DAY TWO- Skin usually looks tight and glowing! Go do things anywhere (with SPF approved on sure, ask about our tinted SPF.) When you get that compliment from friends or strangers say you went to SKINRX! Sensitive skin can be tight and a very slight sensation of the sun. Ask us about the refreshing hydration spray we have! DAY THREE – You may notice that some areas darken, the sun spots become much darker, this is great news! Don’t be afraid if this happens. The peeling usually starts today or tomorrow on the areas of expression (mouth, cheeks, between the eyebrows…) Don’t forget to follow the post-peeling protocol and please, NO PICKING. DAY FOUR-The peeling will continue or just start for some at this time. Usually, the peeling will happen in other areas: forehead, jaw, etc… Remember, NO picking. We like to say that… Peeling on hands, forearms, legs and décolletage (chest) may take longer to start! DAY FIVE TO SEVEN- Let the peeling continue…while some have done most of their peeling and just now light peeling, everyone is different! Rarely, some will get a second wave of peeling/shedding for a day or two. DAY EIGHT TO SAY: You may also feel drier than usual and your skin is thirsty for hydration (internally and externally). This is a 30-minute boost of gentle exfoliation to help gently remove residue and infuse hydrating serums. DAY EIGHT TO FOURTEEN: If you haven’t come in for that moisturizing mini-facial then contact your SRX expert for advice on the BEST skin care to optimize your final chemical peel results! DAY FOURTEEN TO TWENTY: You just saw the results! Contact your SRX supplier to see your before/after comparison! You should notice healthier skin!

Please have all of your skin care products listed that you are currently using so that our SkinRX experts can accurately assess your skin care needs. Please refrain from using Retinol within 1 week of your service. Chemical peels are a controlled exfoliation treatment that can do wonders for the health and appearance of the skin.
